“Adventure Time” Hit Series High Ratings on Monday, September 5

Neil Patrick Harris Leads Cartoon Network’s Hit Animated Series ADVENTURE TIME to Best Performance in its 3-Season History

Cartoon Comedy Series Ranks as TV’s #1 Program of the Day on All Television Among Key Kids Demos

Cartoon Network’s Monday Night Comedies Rise to Highest Early Evening Delivery 2011-to-date

Cartoon Network’s Monday night (Sept. 5) presentation of an all-new episode of original animated series ADVENTURE TIME (8 p.m.), currently in its third season, scored its highest delivery among all targeted kids and boys demos – ages 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14 – in the history of the series, earning double-digit growth across all audiences, according to Nielsen Media Research. The Labor Day presentation out-paced all competition to rank as the #1 program of the day on all television among kids 6-11 and 9-14, as well as boys 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14. Additionally, the strength of ADVENTURE TIME’S record-setting performance – which attracted more than 3.3 million viewers 2+ – helped propel the network’s Monday night all-comedy line-up (7-9 p.m.) to its best performance 2011-to-date among total viewers.

The special episode, entitled “Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake,” featured guest-star Neil Patrick Harris (The Smurfs, How I Met Your Mother) who loaned his formidable speaking and singing vocal talents to play Prince Gumball. Harris starred in this gender-swapping, parallel universe episode which also features the female “Fionna” and her cat “Cake.”

“Since its premiere on April 5, 2010, ADVENTURE TIME has served as an anchor to our Monday nights, quickly becoming the #1 original series on our air,” said Stuart Snyder, president and chief operating officer of Cartoon Network. “With primetime Emmy Award nominations two years in a row for ‘Outstanding Animated Program,’ the series has been both a critical and popular success. Audiences – both kids and grownups alike – have made Monday night the destination for the next generation of great Cartoon Network animated comedies.”

Highlights of ADVENTURE TIME’s episode premiere performance, compared to the same 2010 time period, include the following:

•Kids 6-11 delivery (1,429,000) increased by 25%, and ratings (5.8) by 26%
•Kids 2-11 delivery (1,844,000) increased by 28%, and ratings (4.5) by 29%
•Kids 9-14 delivery (1,316,000) increased by 73%, and ratings (5.5) by 77%
•Boys 6-11 delivery (1,063,000) increased by 23%, and ratings (8.5) by 25%
•Boys 2-11 delivery (1,283,000) increased by 23%, and ratings (6.1) by 24%
•Boy 9-14 delivery (949,000) increased by 61%, and ratings (7.7) by 64%
•Total Viewers 2+ delivery (3,315,000) increased by 42%
Propelled by ADVENTURE TIME’s episode premiere, Cartoon Network’s overall Monday early evening (7-9 p.m.) also scored its best performance of the year to date. With strong performances from additional original animated series The Amazing World of Gumball (7:30 p.m.), Regular Show (8:15 p.m.) and MAD (8:30, 8:45 p.m.), Monday night grew significantly across the board – kids 6-11 average delivery (981,000) increased by 9% and ratings (4.0) by 11%, kids 2-11 delivery (1,307,000) increased by 8% and ratings (3.2) by 10%, kids 9-14 delivery (791,000) and ratings (3.3) both increased by 27%, boys 6-11 delivery (756,000) increased by 16% and ratings (6.0) by 15%, boys 2-11 delivery (958,000) increased by 14% and ratings (4.6) by 18%, and boys 9-14 delivery (595,000) increased by 36% and ratings (4.9) by 40%.

Adventure Time introduces viewers to unlikely heroes Finn and Jake, buddies who traverse the mystical Land of Ooo and encounter its colorful inhabitants. The best of friends, our heroes always find themselves in the middle of heart-pounding escapades. Finn, a silly boy with an awesome hat and Jake, a brassy dog with a big kind heart, depend on each other through thick and thin.

Adventure Time with Finn & Jake originated from the mind of creator Pendleton Ward, and is produced in partnership with Frederator Studios, with Fred Seibert serving as an executive producer on the series.

The show sucks. Wanna know why? [link]
It proves how not only is AT a bad show, but how it's ruined CN. this isn't anyone's opinion, it's the straight-up facts.

Since opinions are based on awareness, let me inform you;

I'm aware of the darkness and surrealism in old shows and movies
AT an new shows have it in all the wrong places
Only a few moments of extreme darkness and gore instead of spread throughout
the show therefore lacks any concrete plot, and therefore lacks any appeal to any non-fantard.
Darkness and surrealism are good things, but it depends how you use them
TFP is a great action show because of its darkness, and the darkness sets the atmosphere throughout the main plot of the show.
Chowder was another extremely surreal show, but it didn't go overboard with it
all of the fictional aspects of Chowder was parodies of real food
all of AT's fictional aspects are based on Acid Trips and the mind of an ignorant teenage brat
Penelton Ward was discovered to have been on Acid when he developed AT
There is no mention of the setting in the first season or two
the setting is a religious reference because now earth looks like hell, particularly limbo, and it's after the "Mushroom Wars", aka the raptures; it's why everything wrong with the world is represented throught that show
AT was stolen from Nick in an attempt to copy the MTV effect due to its internet popularity

The art style was stolen from superjail
the characters all have the mindset of an ignorant, dependent teenager
the humor is either offensive, unfunny, corny, or immature; there is no attempt to hide the dirty humor
Bubblegum and Marceline only exists to encourage dA yuri artists to blindly support the show
AT is a cash cow, the reason why CN focuses on this show instead of several prime time shows

It's not about believing what you want
it's believing in the truth and knowing who is hurt by supporting what you love
quality of a show can't justify a negative impact on pop culture and a network
it's because people are stupid when it comes to religion for the same reason
they try to force it on others, and punish those who don't worship the same god
not only that, but religion still impairs the minds of so many
religion doesn't need to go; the extremism needs to stop. likewise with fantards.

there's such thing as quality
creativity, appropriate realism and surrealism, originality, intent, origin, appropriate dirty humor, art style, animation, and overall appeal

First of all, while i love all of my 90's cartoons, you clearly have no background knowledge of AT or the plot.

Second, Lewis Carrol was tripped out on Acid while writing Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (which is considered classic literature, by the way). I would also like to see you source your information about Pendleton Ward. If you were to publish an essay based on the facts you provided, it would be on the intellegance level of the articles written in Seventeen magazine. Source your facts, basic high school knowledge right there.

Third, have you even watched Superjail? Adventure Time and Superjail do NOT have the same art style. That is probably the most rediculous thing i've ever heard. And, also, you can't really copy an art style, so many people draw in a certain way, i cannot even begin to list the thousands of people that draw in the marvel art style with comic book that have nothing to do with marvel itself.

Fourth, Marcaline and Bubblegum. Who the hell cares if they were made to support deviantart artists (which i completely, 100% disagree with that ignorant saying). so what, everytime someone put a homosexual undertone in something - cuz you sure as hell can't blurt out lesbians on a kids show, do you have any idea the kind of uproar those homophobic bigots would start? - it's automatically to get people to draw fanart on DA? That is probably the stupidest thing i've heard yet. Do you have any idea how many authors put undertones of same sex couples into their work? If they were to make those same sex couple canon, do you have any idea how far their sales would go down? No, i really don't think you understand anything about literature, writing, or the analytical side of both of those things.

fifth, yeah, the humor's gonne be immature because the type of people who watch the show have an immature humor. I know i do. I'm 20-years-old and i have the humor of a 14-year-old boy. So sue me? If i want my cartoon to make fart jokes, I will make AAAAALLLL of the fart jokes!!!!!!

Sixth, seriously, i have no idea what you're talking about in that little religion paragraph. Do you hear/read the things you're saying before you write them? Nothing in the show is insulting religions. Good lord.

seventh, the fact that you posted this without warrent, just randomly deciding to flag some hate on a club, shows eveyone how mature you are. And by that, i mean you are severely lacking in that department. It was incredibly rude and disrespectful for you to post this here, just like it is rude and disrespectful for people to force their opinions or religious view on others. It takes a better person to keep to yourself instead of roaming the streets and yelling about blasphemy and heresy like a reneisance priest.

Yeah, there is a such thing as quality. you want that? go watch a pixar or disney movie. Adventure Time is clearly not for you.

by the way? No 90's cartoon had plot.

Just because something is made in flash, though i will always love and adore my hand-drawn animations more, doesn't mean it's not art.

Also, the "Mushroom wars" refures to World War III in which we launched nukes at everyone. The show is about how life has progressed, how the radiation has poisoned and mutated the lands we call home, and how the last known human boy survives and lives in such a world.

And, there is plot from episode to episode, but it's meant for the older viewers who are able to disect and analyze the subtext in a way children can't do. Of course, to keep the children interested they keep up with the tradition of a funny animation that seems to have little to know plot (which, of course, it isn't).

I hope you read this and realize how childish and immature you have been. There is a time and place for everything, this was neither of those for you.
